Deep Treble

Most of my friends know that I'm in an A Cappella group... and most of them don't understand why. It's unorthodox for a voice major to participate in contemporary (or broadway... that's another story) singing. And, I really don't have a reason, other than I love the diversity, the creativity and the freedom that comes from being involved in student organizations.

I auditioned for Deep Treble in December 2006, because listening to 'Let Go' on their myspace wasn't satisfying my curiosity about contemporary A Cappella. From the minute I heard their arrangement of the Frou Frou song, made famous in Garden State, I was hooked. I didn't understand how voices could sound like instruments... it was amazing. The only experience I ever had with A Cappella was my high school Madrigals group, which is a VERY different setting.

After I made it in, it was a permanant part of my life. Nothing could make me quit (even Chama!)... and I know that my impending graduation will only be bittersweet because I would have to leave the group behind.

Rehearsals were twice a week, until prep for ICCA became full-blown. Then rehearsals were almost every night, sometimes until 1am. We worked our butts off... and fittingly made it to the International Finals at Lincoln Center in NYC. For the 2007-2008 season, we were one of the Top 6 groups in the contmp (english speaking... minus austraila) world, and the Top group from the mid-atlantic section of the USA. wow. It's still crazy to think about.

anyway... I'm babbling and that's SO not cool.
Just keep in mind that auditioning for DT is almost way more fun than a night at Sammy. Oh wait... sammy doesn't exist anymore. ha! And with that, I'll leave you with a song:
